This Privacy Policy explains how Tembo ("Tembo," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our field-service management platform (the "Service"), including the customer portal at gettembo.app and any related SMS messaging.
Tembo is used by service-based businesses ("Businesses") to coordinate work and communicate with their end customers. In some sections below, we refer to "you" both as a user of the Service and as a recipient of communications sent through the Service.
Information we collect
From Businesses
- Account information — name, email, password (hashed), company details, and role.
- Service usage — pages visited, features used, device and browser metadata, and diagnostic logs.
- Billing information — handled by our payment processor; Tembo stores only the metadata needed to manage subscriptions (e.g., the last four digits of a card).
From end customers of Businesses
- Contact information — name, address, email, and mobile phone number provided to a Business.
- Service records — quotes, jobs, visits, invoices, and related notes that the Business has chosen to manage in Tembo.
- Messaging data — content of SMS messages sent and received through the Service, delivery status, consent state (opt-in / opt-out), timestamps, and the source of consent.
How we use information

- To provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
- To analyze product usage and inform development decisions.
SMS messaging data
When SMS is enabled, we store the recipient's mobile number, the message content, the delivery status reported by the carrier, the timestamp, and the consent state at the time of sending. We retain a record of opt-in and opt-out events — including the source of consent — to honor preferences across all Businesses that use Tembo and to demonstrate compliance with applicable messaging regulations.
We do not sell or rent mobile numbers or message content. Message content is shared only with our SMS sub-processor (Twilio) for the purpose of delivering the message.
How we share information
We share personal information with sub-processors that help us operate the Service. Each sub-processor is contractually required to safeguard the information consistent with this policy.
- Twilio — SMS delivery.
- Supabase — database hosting, authentication, and storage.
- OpenAI — AI-assisted features within the Service.
- Sentry — error monitoring and performance diagnostics.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Payment processor — secure handling of subscription billing.
We may also disclose information when required by law, in response to a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Tembo, our users, or others.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of the transaction. We will notify affected users before any such transfer.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Messaging records, including consent state, are retained for at least the period required by applicable messaging regulations. When information is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
If you are an end customer of a Business that uses Tembo, the Business is the controller of your personal information. We will refer requests about that data to the Business, or assist them in responding, as appropriate.
Cookies and analytics
Tembo uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, but parts of the Service may not function correctly without them.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can delete it.
International transfers
Tembo is operated from the United States. By using the Service, you understand that your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where our sub-processors operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
